In our age of religious pluralism, Clive Every-Clayton seeks to show that there is one religion - and only one - that stands supreme above all others : the revelation of God brought by the incarnation of his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. He examines a number of factors specific to Christianity alone, which at the same time substantiate its truth claims. While not a book on comparative religion, there are sufficient allusions to other faiths that the unique excellence of Christianity shines forth all the more.
Only Christianity has two objectives : it is designed to guide seekers after truth, giving reasons why they may intelligently believe that Christianity is the only religion that merits full-hearted trust. It also aims to confirm Christian believers in the assurance - often needed in this day of philosophical relativism - that there is one true faith, and it is theirs - so that they may be emboldened in bearing witness to it.
Clive Every-Clayton, originally from S. W. London, had a life-time career with his Scottish wife Dorothy in the Belgian Evangelical Mission. After graduating with a degree in theology from London University, Clive spent 5 years with Operation Mobilisation before settling into pastoral and evangelistic ministry in Belgium. His varied service in Bible teaching, mission leadership, discipleship training and lecturing in apologetics led latterly to a church planting ministry in the suburbs of Brussels. Author of several books and numerous booklets in French, Clive, now retired and a member of the Free Church of Scotland in Kingussie, has turned to writing in English. He has four adult children and three grandsons.
